Welcome to the blog I'll be using as Thomas Morgan! Under this name I will be writing heartfelt Thrillers with a historical slant. I'll also share about the publishing process, events, photos, and other such nonsense.
So why use a pen name?
As Lee Thompson I began selling Dark Fantasy novels, novellas and short stories professionally in 2010. My first novel and novella were released by Delirium Books in the summer/fall of 2011. I read widely, I love writing, and I also want to stay true to what readers come to expect from the Lee Thompson work. And yet... I also want to write other types of fiction. If you've ever heard that the muse controls the writer, not the other way around, that's what's happened to me. I run with the ideas that are burning me up. Sometimes those ideas don't fall under the same genre. Sometimes a writer can create vastly different books. To me, that's exciting. I don't want to ever be one of those guys who ends up writing the same book over and over and over.
In 2012 I wrote a Thriller novel with a historical slant called THE LESSER PEOPLE. It's very different than my Dark Fantasy work. But I enjoyed the hell out of it and look forward to writing more novels in that vein. Being that they're so different than my Lee Thompson novels, I decided to use the pen name Thomas Morgan. Simple.
In 2012 I also wrote a tightly plotted and fast-paced Suspense novel called THE WOLVERINE. It's from the POV of a criminal. Very different than my work as Lee Thompson or the Thomas Morgan novel The Lesser People. But again, I look forward to writing more novels in this vein under the name James Logan.
In 2013 I have an idea for a novel that will again be different from the works of Lee Thompson, Thomas Morgan, and James Logan. It, and the other novels I write under the name Julian Vaughn, will be more mainstream, more touching, and deal with more universal questions.
My first Thomas Morgan novel THE LESSER PEOPLE is in the hands of an agent right now. I believe in it, its message, and think it will connect with a large audience. I'll keep everyone posted on where this leg of my journey takes me!
